Norway is one of the five Nordic nations along with Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland.

Norway is a Protestant country with a state church. Many people do not practise their religion even though they consider themselves Christians.

About 4.65 million people live in Norway. Of this, about 40,000 are Sami, the indigenous population in Norway.

Norway is a relatively small country: 324,220 sq km, of which 307,860 sq km is land and 16,360 sq. km. is water. This represents an area slightly larger than the U.S. state of New Mexico.

About 2/3 of the land in Norway is considered mountain terrain.

Norway has over 50,000 islands off its coast.

Only Saudi Arabia and Russia export more oil than Norway.

Norway is the best place to live according to a recently publish UN report.

Norway has won the most medals at the Winter Games.

North of the Arctic Circle in Norway (also called “The Land of the Midnight Sun”), the “Nordic twilight” lights up the landscape in the middle of the summer night.
